Becca Backlight Priming Filter Dupe?

Hello all! For those who know me well, it's glaringly obvious how much I care for makeup, so it only felt right to make my first blog post all about makeup. While I absolutely adore the luxury of higher-end cosmetics, I also highly appreciate the products that are easier on the wallet without sacrificing performance. With Ulta's 21 Days of Beauty going on (click here to find Nouveau Cheap's breakdown on this event), I took advantage of the amazing discount on the Becca Backlight Priming Filter. I'd always heard the L'Oréal Magic Lumi Primer was a dupe for the Becca one and decided to investigate this claim myself.

Becca Backlight Priming Filter vs. Loreal Magic Lumi Primer

*Becca had 1oz of product, Loreal had .68oz of product.

I applied Becca on my right side and L'Oreal on the other with no foundation over top, because I wanted to see the full "glowiness" of both products fully. Here's what it looked like:

Application : For starters, the lumi primer has a different color than the Becca primer when first pumped out. Whereas Becca's primer is more metallic/chrome, almost "beige-y" colored, the lumi primer is whiter and more glittery. However both are very liquidy, yet still creamy and blend out beautifully by hand. As pictured above, both primers give gorgeous, luminous--and most importantly, identical--benefits to the skin even without foundation. I also found that not much more than a pea-sized amount was necessary for each halve, as they both spread out well when blending.

Wear : Neither felt particularly heavy on the skin. I will say, though, the lumi primer feels a tiny bit oilier and the backlight primer feels more like a thin face lotion. After a while, however, both primers feel like nothing on the skin. As for durability, both primers wore for my whole day (approx. 12 hours) at equal levels of luminosity. Finally, I have oily-normal combo skin and neither primer emphasized pores or looked oily, just beautifully glowy.

Conclusion : I tested out both the Becca Backlight Priming Filter and L'Oréal Magic Lumi Primer to see if the lumi primer was a cheaper dupe for the Becca primer. After wearing both for a day, I can conclude that the lumi primer is indeed a dupe for the backlight primer. While their colors may be different, both primers' wear, effect, and durability make them perfect duplicates. If one finds themselves in the market for the perfect, everyday, luminous primer that can stand alone the L'Oréal Magic Lumi Primer is the perfect product on the market to pick up in lieu of the Becca Backlight Priming Filter when you're looking to save some sheckels.
